Tom Van Schaik is a graduate of Mountain Home High School (1965), a graduate of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville with a degree in history (1969), a six-year veteran of the U.S. Navy (1969-1975) and a graduate of Arkansas Tech University in Russellville with a degree in Physical Science – Nuclear Option (1990). He retired from the Arkansas Nuclear One Power Plant in Russellville, Arkansas after 29 years in the Operations and Engineering Departments. His wife, Margaret, also a sales associate with Gilbert Realty, is a retired schoolteacher from the Russellville/Dardanelle school districts. Tom and Margaret have two children; a son, Jon, an attorney in Los Angeles, CA and a daughter, Cara, who lives in Columbia, MO. with her husband and three children (Adam, Anna & Austin).
After retirement, Tom and Margaret entered the real estate profession as way of returning to Tom’s roots in Mountain Home, close to other family members, and to embark on a rewarding and enjoyable career change with the successful, highly regarded firm of Gilbert Realty which has been the top rated Real Estate firm in sales and listing for 15 consecutive years.
